You maybe wondering what if any equipment you should use when you're bench pressing. Hardcore lifters will tell you that you should train 'raw' with nothing more than a belt. Then there are others that will suggest using a belt, wrist wraps, a bench shirt and even elbow wraps.
It does not make sense to train with all the equipment that you will use in a competition, assuming that you're power lifting. If you're not a power lifter then using excess equipment shouldn't even be in your vocabulary.
If you're a power lifter it may be beneficial for you to test your bench pressing ability in the gym using a bench press shirt so you have an accurate idea of where your max lies. This will help you to make better weight selection in the actual competition.
When all is said and done training raw without any equipment is the most beneficial and will help you to develop
your bench pressing ability in a manner that will maximize your results.
